Third-party Certification Auditor For Food Safety

Scope of Work
A permanent position conducting GFSI recognised, Food Safety, third party audits and related tasks. We are looking for a dynamic, experienced, self-starter to join our Lead auditing team.
The position would suit a candidate who is able travel extensively, has excellent communication skills and can remain objective when dealing with clients. Our client base is mostly Afrikaans speaking, therefore, being fluent in Afrikaans is essential.
Education & Work experience
The successful candidate shall have:
- A food related degree or diploma.
- The candidate shall have a minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience. This shall involve work in quality assurance, technical management or risk management functions within manufacturing, retailing, inspection or enforcement, and the candidate shall be able to demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of specific categories of the food industry for which they have experience.
- Passed a registered management system lead assessor course (e.g. IRCA) and or the BRCGS third-party auditor course delivered by a BRCGS-approved trainer. This course is not essential upon application but will be required to be completed if successful in the application of this position.
- Completed a training course in hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP), based on the principles of Codex Alimentarius, of at least 2 days’ duration, or be able to demonstrate competence in the understanding and application of HACCP principles. It is essential that the HACCP course is recognised by the industry as being appropriate and relevant.

- Application of knowledge of the product category, and ability to identify the Hazards including Product Safety regulation that is relevant to the Supply chain Category.
- Ability to evaluate the organization’s capacity to identify and meet applicable (country of production/country of destination) food safety regulation and labelling requirements.
- Management of the audit process to the expected protocol.
- Application of vertical audit techniques and challenge of information and processes.
- Appropriate interview and data gathering techniques with all levels from line operatives to senior management.
- Ability to gather information and follow lines of enquiry.
