An exciting opportunity has arisen at Commodity Inspections at Taguig, Philippines for COORDINATOR & INSPECTOR.

As a Coordinator and Inspector, your main responsibility is for coordinating inspection jobs between clients and inspectors. This also entails preparing and coordinating with Inspection Admin that all things needed by inspector are ready prior to inspection.  There will be instances that you will be asked to perform inspection based on your qualifications on various commodities and related processes through field inspections, marine surveys and/or audits, in accordance with company principles, National Standards, and client requirements.

Tasks and responsibilities

Coordinator

  • Communicate with stakeholders (internal and external clients) and attend to inquiries, concerns, and complaints related to Commodity Inspections and elevate to immediate superior, when needed
  • Assist in coordinating inspections between clients and inspectors
  • Assist with quotations/calculations and offers for our inspection services
  • Assist in developing new business
  • Assist in organizing and maintaining inspection records and documents in accordance with ISO17020
  • Issue and maintenance of necessary operational & safety equipment to inspection team members
  • Select capable laboratories and arrange to send samples for analysis, if necessary
  • Inform Inspections Manager/MD about suspected wrongdoings or mistakes
  • Ensure that reports of inspectors/surveyors are delivered in the agreed format and within a reasonable time frame
  • Undertake any other duties and support as requested by the Inspections Manager

Inspector

  • Perform inspections as per Government Accreditation requirements with DTI-BPS and BOC
  • Inspect weight of trucks or containers on weighbridges
  • Draw sample of cargo from vessels or warehouses
  • Supervise cargo stocked in the warehouse including trucks/containers tally (license number, time and date)
  • Make sure unauthorized truck is rejected
  • Check the condition of cargo as instructed and report to Shift Leader
  • Inform the Inspections Manager about any operational challenges at port/ warehouse locations in timely manner
  • Inform and advise the Inspections Manager in case of (suspected) wrongdoings or mistakes made
  • Communicate with the agent(s) to get information on the vessel schedule
  • Inspect and make an initial cargo condition report
  • Perform cargo hold inspection, draft survey, tank sounding, sampling, as assigned in work orders/client instructions
  • Perform warehouse inspection, tank inspection, container inspection, factory inspection and make the report
  • Perform cargo condition inspection, quantity measurement, quality analysis, and assessment
  • Communicate and solve problems in case damaged cargo is found
  • Issue letter of the reserve, letter of protest, and statement of facts in case of necessity
  • Supervise overall discharge/loading process
  • Make daily report of loading report, discharge report, warehouse quantity report within the designated timeframe
  • Transport samples to the office/lab, coordinate with clients, and adhere to company standards and healthy/safety protocols
  • Be the job coach for new inspectors and/or freelancers
  • Perform other duties and support as requested from time to time

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Maritime/Foreign Trade/Agriculture/Product Quality Assurance
  • Minimum 3 years of working experience as a coordinator and/or surveyor and/or supervisor in inspection services
  • Knowledge of shipping/logistics and warehousing
  • Knowledge of commodities, including, but not limited to Soya Bean Meal, Rice, Wheat, Corn, Molasses, Coconut Oil, etc.
  • Knowledge of GAFTA, FOSFA (sampling), ISO9001 and/or ISO17020
  • Knowledge of the Product Certification Scheme of BPS-DTI would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of inspection of Electrical Products Group (EPG), Mechanical/Building and Construction Materials Group (MBCG), Chemical, Consumer and Other Related Products Group (CCOPG) would be advantageous
  • Good coordinating and client relation skills
  • Excellent decision making and observation skills
  • Ability to work in an international and multicultural environment
  • Proficient in the English language – verbal and written
  • Being able to apply ISO19001 and/or ISO17020 procedures
  • Computer skills: proficient in using Microsoft Office
